why do i write...

I am asked this by my professor for a paper.
I am stuck.
Why do I write?

When I saw this assignment, I was actually excited. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to poor my heart out about who I am as a writer, and who I am in general. For people to read my experience, and be like, "wow, this affects me." What's the deal here? Whyu can't I write something, that I thought would be so simple? It seems that I may not know why I write. I mean, I do know that I love children, and have htis passion for homeless people, but what is it about them that I am so like OMG PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.

I have no idea.
